When you get started with list building, it can be daunting. What autoresponder do I use, do I even need an autoresponder, what is the best way to send traffic to my web site, and on and on.

So I have written this short article to share with you what I feel are your very first steps in list building.

1) You have to decide on a niche and how to segment it. What I mean by this is that not only do you have to choose a niche, but you have to choose subniches, then you have to build separate lists for each. You see, if you have a web site that is devoted to health, wouldn t you think that the needs of people wanting to lose weight will be different from the needs of someone wanting to gain muscle? How about the needs of someone who wants to become a vegetarian versus the needs of someone who wants to learn about different vitamins. So even though your web site is in the health niche, you really should have a different list for each subniche.

2) You must have a squeeze page. A squeeze page has as its only function the opting in of email opt in names and addresses. There are no other things that visitor can do on that page, and no way the visitor can navigate away from the page. You must structure your squeeze pages like this to make the most amount of money online.

3) You must have an autoresponder. You simply cannot list build without a professional autoresponder.
